SMi, first choice for environmental infrastructures contributing to greenhouse gas reduction
Renowned for its engineering expertise and project management, SMi was selected by the Régie intermunicipale de valorisation des matières organiques de Beauharnois-Salaberry et de Roussillon to assist it for the recruitment and selection of a partner for the implementation of a 38 000 annual ton recovery and organic waste valorization center.
Thanks to its multidisciplinary expertise, SMi has the key resources to support the developer throughout the entire procurement process up to and including start up, for the selection of a partner who will design, build and operate the center for 20 years. In addition to obtaining the required environmental authorizations, SMi, as leader, and its consortium partner AXOR carried out the preparatory studies relating to the technical orientation, impact modeling, site characterization and preparation of the technical specifications.
“Today, environmental or renewable energy infrastructures are often done in design-construction-operation mode or even in public- private partnership. In this context, SMi is a major technical partner for any green infrastructure project promoter in the same way as its financial and legal partners enable it to develop and set up a solution that meets its objectives in terms of the reduction of its ecological footprint and economic performance of this type of project” explains Mr. Guy Fouquet, Vice-President, Development, Environment and Earth Sciences
A few facts:
An annual processing capacity of 38 000 ton of organic waste
Through this mandate, SMi demonstrates, once again, its ability to offer added value to its engineering services through its procurement expertise in design-build-operation mode.
By finding an optimal solution, SMi not only meets the client’s objectives for the valorization of organic waste which aim to obtain an efficient and sustainable infrastructure, that also offers concrete technical and contractual means to reduce greenhouse gas that in order to meet the needs and well-being of the communities.
